Teen Challenge is a 2-Phase Program:
PHASE 1: INDUCTION- Teen Challenge of Western PA
PHASE 2: Teen Challenge Training Center, Rehrersburg, PA
We understand that moral development and spiritual development go hand-in-hand.
Induction (Phase I) is 4-5 months in length. Teen Challenge is a type of "spiritual boot camp" for men and women who want to be free from life-controlling habits and become alive in God. Upon successful completion of phase 1 you will be transferred to the Teen Challenge Training Center in Rehrersburg, Pennsylvania (Phase II) for the remaining 10 months of the program.
Teen Challenge is not easy; in fact, completing the program (Approx. 14-16 months) will probably be the most rewarding thing you have ever done in your life.
The program in which you are entering requires a minimum 14 month commitment.
Teen Challenge of Western PA bases its treatment on four principles:
- There is hope for addicted men if they sincerely desire to change.
- Trouble with substance abuse, friends, the law and other life-controlling problems are only symptoms of the real need.
- People need to become whole through Christ – mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.
- Through the teaching of Biblical principles, opportunities to develop new habits and attitudes are discovered, providing a foundation on which to build a “new beginning.”
Teen Challenge offers not only environmental change, but also practical life skills to cope with the root issues of your addiction. Our focus is to address the underlying issues that drive an active addiction to continue.
The process begins through the teaching of Biblical principles. Students are taught how to develop a relationship with God. They learn what it means to live and walk by faith, the importance of family, work, and healthy relationships.
In addition to in-house counselors and 24-hour staff, there are group studies, character studies and personal studies in the academic division and job skills training in the vocational division. Most job-skill training takes place at Phase II.
Throughout the 14-month experience tools such as: GED, job skills and vocational training are focused upon to assist in re-entering society as productive and healthy individuals. We want you to be ready to re-enter society as one that is changed!
